Rescue Me ID: 17-03-22-00130Sunny (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

After making the long trek from Texas with his new girlfriend, Lyla, this stud muffin arrived in Idaho on Sunday. He is so darn handsome, we can hardly stand it. Sunny greets everyone with a wag and a kiss. He comes straight to the front of his kennel for some extra attention and, because we can't help it, some yummy treats. Sunny LOVES kids and dogs. At the ripe young age of 2, he does have a pretty high energy level and will need a family who can keep up with him. When he first arrived, Sunny was determined to see the whole place, and we discovered that he has a secret talent for high jumping. Seriously, this guy has springs in his legs, ... (Read More)and we still sometimes see his head popping up over the top of the kennel. If you happen to be preparing for a track and field event, Sunny may be a good training buddy. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-22-00086Falkor (male)

Bloodhound Mix    Age: Puppy

We often meet dogs on the worst day of their lives. Such was the case with Falkor, an 11 month old sensitive puppy who was separated from his family (after they lost their home) and sent on a long transport to our Rescue. He arrived terrified and withdrawn, and we knew that we had to send him to a quieter environment. So, Courtney, Mike, and family agreed to foster the giant puppy, and we are so glad that they did. It took a couple of days for Falkor to decompress. He didn't want to play or engage with anyone in the family at first. But his foster brother Arby, a smaller puppy, and his foster dad Mike, a human, wore him down. Falkor came out ... (Read More)of his shell and learned to have a little fun. He is still nervous around new people, and he certainly prefers not to be left alone, but we know that this guy is a true gem. Falkor is now fully vetted and waiting at the Rescue for his forever family. We know that he's lived with dogs of all sizes, cats, and kids ages 2 and up, but we're looking for just the right family to give Falkor the unending patience and love that he so deserves. We have a feeling he'd be happiest in a home where people or dog friends are available for companionship most of the time. If you're interested in meeting Falkor, please come to the Rescue during our open hours. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-16-00146Coco (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

She's exactly the right size. She has just the right amount of energy. And she wants to be your sidekick for life. Meet our newest 'Coco,' a petite 8 year old who just finished her foster hold and is now waiting patiently for a family at our Rescue. Foster mom, Allie, says, 'Coco is a very sweet girl. She wants nothing more than to be right by your side all day long. She loves going for walks with her foster siblings. Her confidence has been building on these walks so she walks well on leash. Coco loves to play fetch! She has done well in her kennel when we leave the house and at night. For the most part she has been fine with the two dogs ... (Read More)in the house. But there have been a couple of instances where she has been a bit possessive of her ball and her foster mom. She will probably need help learning to share and understand that mom and toys will still be there if she shares. This little girl will be the most loyal, snuggly companion anyone could ask for!' *Please contact us for her adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-14-00130Scout (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Handsome, isn't he? This is Scout, a 2 year old boy who was transferred to us from a shelter in Utah. Scout had been surrendered to that shelter by his family after reportedly escaping with the other dog in the home. During one of his excursions, he may have shaken and killed a small dog (but the circumstances are unknown), and he reportedly has a high prey drive and went after llamas. But that's the bad stuff. The great news is that Scout has been a perfect gentleman here, and we have no problem spending time with this guy. He needs someone willing to work with him and manage his mental and physical needs. Scout did amazing during his dog ... (Read More)tests at the previous facility, and he lived in a foster home with one of our volunteers and her dog for a week before coming to the rescue. Foster mom Bailey says, 'Scout has been such a good boy. He is going to be difficult to give up but I know he is going to get adopted right away. He knows how to sit, shake, lay down and is kennel trained. He is pretty well potty trained and has gotten much better throughout the week. We went to the doggie wash yesterday to get him all cleaned up, brushed and smelling nice for visiting families soon. He is a huge softy and is patient with my hyper, jealous dog. He always wants to lay on my lap or by my side! Being his foster mom has been awesome! I am excited for him to go to a good home :)' Please feel free to come meet Scout at the Rescue. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-14-00127Bella (female)

Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix    Age: Adult

Do you all remember the scared, beautiful girl who arrived at our Rescue last weekend? The one that had to immediately be transferred to a foster home because she wouldn't come into the building? Well, Bella is doing so much better in her foster home, and volunteer Kelly thinks she's ready to meet her forever family. If you're interested in getting to know Bella, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. She will remain in foster until she's adopted. Foster mom, Kelly, says, 'Bella is just waiting to be someone's perfect companion. Potty trained and beyond her chewing days, she now spends her free time rolling around on her back suggesting a ... (Read More)tummy rub. She makes quite a big lap dog, but an affectionate one at that. Bella loves the sight of her leash, the word 'walk,' and going outside for some quality time with or without another dog. She can be left alone in the house and is even willing to go into a quiet, comfortable kennel as long as she makes her own decision to do so. This chunky lovebug takes treats gently and is reported to have done well with children and cats in her previous home. She is a relaxed, medium-sized, medium energy level dog who will give you all of the love you can imagine.' *Please contact us for her adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-14-00124Duke (male)

Miniature Pinscher Mix    Age: Adult

Duke is an 8 year old male who was surrendered to our Rescue because he wasn't adjusting well to the new baby in the house. Duke has spent time around kids before, but likes to nip at their ankles. He is a little big man who packs a lot of personality into his pint-size body. This handsome guy is fully vetted (neuter, exam, vaccinations), microchipped, house-trained, and kennel-trained. He is good with other dogs and great at walks. In fact, Duke's walking style is more of a prance, really, so he makes for a great (and entertaining!) exercise buddy. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-23-00210Ruger (male)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Senior

A 9 year old retiree, Ruger found himself at another Idaho shelter without a home to spend his golden years. We were more than happy to take him in and begin the search for an adopter. Ruger has lived in a foster home for the past week, but he is now available for adoption at the Rescue. Foster mom, Shirley, says, 'Ruger is doing wonderful, he is a gentle pup and gets along well with my dog. You can tell he has been trained, if you call (in most cases) he will come, sometimes his nose is working on a smell. If you tell him no he stops whatever he was doing (like trying to get on the couch), he now knows he doesn't get on the furniture. He ... (Read More)has had a bath and looks and smells great. He sleeps or rests on his blankets, something for his new owners should know, lay them down where you want him to (his space) and that is where he will lay. He has not used the kennel at all since he has been here, I have a blanket at the end of my bed and that is where he sleeps, and he sleeps all night. We did discover he cannot be in a house with a cat, he is a trained coon dog and reacted accordingly, which is too bad because this family friend (we brought him with us because they wanted to see him) fell in love with him. We were there two hours before he noticed the cat on the back of the couch and went after him, it took two of us to get him under control. He was not violent at all, but any small animal in the house would not be safe (hamsters etc).' *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Hello, Jack! Named by one of our long-time volunteers, this handsome fella recently arrived from California. He is a 5 year old neutered male, who is microchipped, vetted, and ready for a home. His behavioral evaluation at the previous facility indicates that he is timid around new people but warms up after a little time. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-13-00099Cash (male)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

This good-looking guy was recently surrendered by his family after they could no longer provide the type of lifestyle and home environment that he needs. Cash's family provided photographs and notes about him, so we will use that information to start his bio and will continue to update it as we get to know him. Cash is about 1.5 years old and is all Hound. He has a lot to say, and he is very curious and energetic. Cash has really enjoyed playing with friends at doggie day care, but in the home environment, Cash has displayed resource guarding tendencies (over food) with his canine sister. Cash will need a dog savvy adopter who is willing to ... (Read More)continue his training (he's very smart and has already graduated from several classes), to tolerate his louder than life personality, to provide lots of exercise, and to manage his food issues. In return, Cash will give you lots of love, will keep your life exciting at all times, and will be forever grateful to you for rescuing him. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-06-00143Nala (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Miss Nala arrived recently from Arizona and has been hanging out in a foster home where it's calm and quiet. She is a timid, shy little girl, who would like nothing more than a peaceful home of her very own. Nala is 6-7 years old, spayed, utd on shots, and microchipped. She does very well with dogs and cats -- in fact, she is currently staying in a foster home with one of our recently adopted dogs, Fitz. Nala is both house and kennel trained as well. Because of her temperament, we're looking for a mature household without any kids, as Nala would prefer to be around adults who would respect her boundaries and move a little more slowly. It was ... (Read More)reported that Nala bit a child, but the records are confusing. She has shown no signs of aggression here. Nala was previously sheltered at a facility in Arizona, and during her stay, she became pregnant. Nala had one fetus about 28 days old when the county shelter spayed her. We know that Nala has been through a lot of upheaval and that explains why she doesn't like to be picked up from the front and why she's reluctant to move out of her safe kennel space when she meets new people. Once Nala decompresses in a home, she is an absolute love and wants to hang out on the couch. If you're interested in meeting Nala, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. *Please contact us for her adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-05-00154Gus (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Senior

Meet Gus, a male Lab-hound mix approximately 12 years old. He's had a bit of a tough life. He was rescued from a shelter a couple of years ago by an elderly couple, but sadly they each passed away in the last two months, leaving him without a family. He is very quiet and gentle, content to sleep on his bed or anywhere that you are. Especially if you are in the kitchen! Gus gets around slowly, with a limp from arthritis in his shoulder and damage to a hip. His back end is a little weak and can slide out from under him. He would do best in a home with a lot of carpeting to give him stable footing, and no stairs. Gus is house-trained, getting ... (Read More)up to find someone to let him outside. No puppy behaviors here- no jumping, barking, chewing or chasing cats! He's looking for a loving home for living out his 'Golden Years', and a family that is willing to take on the extra care of a senior dog. Can you be his special family? We would absolutely love to place Gus in a loving, nurturing home, with a family who can give him the care he needs in this final stage of his life. Please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944 if you're interested in adopting Gus. He will remain in foster care until we can find him a good home. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-04-00240Catcher (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Adult

Catcher is in the building! He is so very handsome, isn't he? This 7 year old German Shepherd has been through a lot of change recently and is looking for a calm, permanent home of his very home. Originally pulled from a high kill shelter in California, Catcher made his way to another rescue and foster situation in Washington state. After a failed adoption, he found himself at another shelter, then on a transport back down to southern California. A brief stay in boarding was next, then another transport to several other states before arriving here in Idaho. Did you follow all that? We're exhausted just thinking about it. When Catcher ... (Read More)arrived, we placed him in a foster home to decompress. If anyone deserved that break, it was definitely Catcher. Foster mom, Brenda, says, 'I have discovered that when he gets comfortable, he begins to find his place by becoming the alpha dog. He loves people a lot, he just becomes jealous if he isn't the one getting all the attention. He doesn't do well with cats. He has been great about being house trained. He keeps his kennel clean. I wouldn't leave him out when no one is home and when he is outside, he barks to let you know when he is ready to come in. He is a great 4 am alarm clock too -- that is when he starts barking and wanting to go outside and then be fed.' Catcher will be a great companion for a family who either wants to make him the center of their world or who is willing to very slowly introduce him to other dogs and integrate him into a multidog household. He has lived with other dogs more than once, but he needs a dog savvy family to make that work. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-17-00221Eliza (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

At almost 7 years of age, Miss Eliza here has settled nicely into adulthood. She gets along well with other dogs; she knows several commands; she's spayed, utd on shots, and healthy. Eliza exhibited minimal separation anxiety in her previous household by scratching the door from which her family would leave, but she never chewed or destroyed anything in the house. According to her previous family, Eliza's perfect day would start with breakfast around 6:30-7:00, as long a walk as you want to take her on, a ride in the car, and another walk in the evening and dinner around 6:00pm. While on walks, her nose is to the ground and she loves to mark ... (Read More)her territory outside on weeds and tall grass. Her favorite toys are her Kong Squeaky tennis balls, and her braided rope for tug-o-war, and her squeaky Panda. Eliza's one issue is that she is scared and nervous around babies, so a mature household is desired for her. An ideal home for Eliza may be with a retired couple who can be with her a lot. She is a loyal and affectionate companion, and she is just waiting for you to take her home. Rescue Me ID: 16-10-13-00229Gracie (female)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix    Age: Puppy

Meet Gracie, the cutest little Rhodesian Ridgeback you could ever meet. She's a 1 year old sweetheart, with lots of love and licks for her family. Gracie is full of energy for a game of catch out in the yard, but when she comes inside she knows how to settle right down, use her 'inside manners,' and chill out at your feet or in her crate. She is friendly with the neighbor dog through the fence, but hasn't been tested with other dogs. Gracie is interested in cats but we're unsure how she would do with one in the house. She loves all people, especially little kids, while still being a good watchdog when someone comes to the door. Gracie walks ... (Read More)well on a leash, not pulling or tugging. She is learning 'come', 'sit' and 'stay'. Due to a weak esophagus, Gracie does best when she can eat smaller meals during the day, with her front paws up on a bench or step-stool.
