Rescue Me ID: 16-11-14-00185Athena (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Athena is a 3 year old beautiful female polka-dotted pit bull. She has lived a very sad life so far: she was tied up and left alone with little love or attention and was very neglected. Her purpose in life was to have babies. Yet she still has the biggest heart and loves people and wants to be with her people. She is reportedly great with other dogs (as indicated by her rescuers and people at her previous shelter), but a meet-and-greet between Athena and another dog here did not go so well. We will need to do more testing before adopting her into a home with dogs. Athena would do best in a home with no cats. She loves kids and loves being ... (Read More)inside with her family. She appears to be very well mannered in the house and that's where she wants to be. Due to her anxiety of being tied up and left again, she needs to be outside on a leash, as she is an escape artist and wants to flee from the feeling of confinement, at least until she adjusts and knows she is safe. She's a beautiful, loving dog; everyone who meets her says the same thing -- 'she just melted my heart' -- and that's exactly what she does. Athena's waggy tail and wiggly butt are the first things you notice about her. Her enthusiasm for meeting new people is incredibly endearing. Whoever adopts Athena will have a lifelong partner. *Please contact the rescue for Athena's adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-07-00155Coors (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Look at that face! Coors is a handsome 10 month old Hound/Lab mix who has spent the past week in a foster home and is now ready for a forever home. Neutered, vaccinated, good with dogs and cats, Coors would make a most welcome addition to your family. Foster mom Laura says, 'In the little time we had him, we came to find out he's a great boy with lots of puppy energy. His new owners will need to take him through obedience classes. If they want to train him themselves, they'll need lots of patience because I doubt that he had any training or any social interaction with his previous owners. But he is a fast learner! We taught him to sit and ... (Read More)sort of stay (a few seconds). His leash manners need some serious work. He loves to pull. As for socialization, he does good with big/small dogs. He does like to be the alpha so he could have some issues with bigger dogs who are also alphas. Coors does good with cats as well. He loves to play with them and will chase them but does not want to hurt them. Once he gets in his kennel, he barks for about 5-10 minutes and then settles down and keeps his kennel clean all night! The entire time we had him in our house he did not have an accident! I believe that he'll need an active family that will make him a part of theirs and will give him lots of exercise and love. He is such a great boy and will find a loving home. He got a rough start in the beginning but things will change for the better for him.' *Please contact the rescue for Coors' adoption fee. (Less)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Bryan is a 3 year old male Pit Bull Terrier who just arrived from the Idaho State Correctional Institution where he lived for about two years. When he arrived as a puppy, he was just this round little boy. By age 2, he had grown up quite a bit. :) Bryan is affectionately referred to as a 'T-Rex.' He's a big boy who absolutely LOVES to play. Bryan does not like to be interrupted during potty time and he resists restraints but can be tricked with lots of love. He is a strong wiggle butt who is always ready to play any game you have in mind. Bryan has interacted well with some other dogs at his previous location and he's reported to do well ... Rescue Me ID: 16-09-26-00297Lucy (female)

Plott Mix    Age: Puppy

Lucy is a nearly 2 year old Plott Hound/Great Dane mix. She is a large, beautiful girl who loves to play. A spacious back yard and an active life style would suite her best. Lucy walks well on the leash but gets distracted very easily, so she needs a strong handler who is willing to work with her. She is a quick learner and knows her basic commands of sit, down, and shake. Lucy can be reactive to other dogs, doesn't like cats, and has issues with people taking her things. However, with a few training sessions and some love, patience, and lots of treats, she can be easily redirected and trained. Two complimentary training sessions with ... Lucy is a wonderful girl, with lots of love to give to her family, and she is more than ready to go to her new home. *Please contact the rescue for Lucy's adoption fee. (Less)
