Rescue Me ID: 17-01-24-00113Sadie (female)

Bernese Mountain Dog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Blind

Say hello to Sadie! This absolutely beautiful gal is a 4 year old Entlebucher Mountain Dog (I had to select Bernese Mountain Dog because Entlebucher is not available on rescueme.org). Sadie was at our Rescue last fall, but, through no fault of her own, she is now available again for adoption. Sadie is a petite, loving, good-natured dog who would do well in almost any family. She is great with other dogs, with cats, and especially with kids (all ages). Sadie is both house- and kennel-trained. She is eager to learn and to please; a very intelligent girl, Sadie picks up on commands quickly. She enjoys playing fetch, but she's always ready for a ... (Read More)good ol' fashioned cuddle. Sadie is blind, but that hasn't kept her from enjoying life. She will need to be cared for by a family who will help her to navigate her surroundings and who will keep the layout of the house (furniture placement, etc) the same as much as possible. Changes to the environment are sometimes hard for blind dogs, and Sadie will need a moment to adjust to new situations. If you're interested in meeting Sadie, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. She will remain in foster care until adoption. *Please contact the rescue for her adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-24-00110Lilly (female)

Maltese Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Cute puppy alert! Introducing Lilly, a 3 month old small, mixed breed dog (we're thinking a deliciously cute Maltipoo/Cockapoo combo). Lilly is now fully vetted and ready to leave her foster home. Foster mom, Linda, says, 'Lilly is a sweet, quiet and very playful little girl who loves to play with lots and lots of toys especially her foster moms slippers. She is teething but has a very short attention span so she hasn't been destructive with her chewing. She loves antlers and Kongs with frozen food in them. You would have to watch her with smaller children because she is chewy at times with those puppy teeth. Lilly gets along well with both ... (Read More)small and large dogs and even the family cat. She is not a fan of being in a kennel but does keep it clean when in there. Being a puppy, she is not house trained and will need learning process to continue in her new home. This girl is a love bug that will be a lucky addition to some family's home.' Lilly will be available for adoption at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, January 24th at our Rescue. Please feel free to come and meet this sweet pup. Our adoption process is detailed on our website, and Lilly's adoption fee is set at $300 to help cover our expenses, including veterinary. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-24-00107Tank (male)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Another cute puppy alert! This handsome boy is a 6 month old Heeler, who is just coming out of foster. Tank is fully vetted, kennel-trained, good with dogs, good with cats, and good with kids over 8. Foster mom, Jenna, says, 'Tank is one easy going pup. He is quite happy doing anything with his people. His hobbies include playing with his best dog pal, Rhody, riding in cars, and sometimes, when his people aren't looking, licking food off the plates in the dishwasher. He really loves having another dog to play with, and would play all day if I let them. When out for a walk, he will bark at unfamiliar dogs. Likewise, he likes to warn us when ... (Read More)there are other people around, by woofing at them in a not so friendly tone. But this is something we are working on. Being a puppy, he still has some issues controlling his bladder. I think he understands that he is supposed to go outside, but he can't always hold it long enough (especially when he gets excited). So, he would probably do fine in a house with a doggy door, or where he can be let out often. He listens well and comes when you call him. Tank does great in his kennel both during the day and at night, not one complaint. He is little unsure of how to walk on a leash. When I walk him with my dog, he pulls, but when I walk him alone, he tries to walk behind me. He is getting better everyday. Sometimes, if on a long leash, he will lunge at cars passing by, but if kept on a short leash, he won't. Overall, Tank is still very much a puppy, and will need someone who will be strict when needed, but also very loving. And his new family must send me monthly updates on how he is doing.' *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-22-00169BoBo (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Meet our newest cutiepie, BoBo. He is one half of a dynamic duo, though we've learned that this pair is not bonded. BoBo, a 6 year old male Chihuahua, is now at the Rescue and ready for adoption. Previously, BoBo and BayBay were living in a foster home while their vetting was completed. Foster mom Kimber reports, 'Both BayBay and Bobo are lovers if you like puppy kisses. Bobo is the energy, he is full of fun and wants to play with you, not so much toys. BayBay will cuddle all day long with kisses to show how much she loves to be loved. Treats are a great tool, they act as if they have never had them before. Neither of them are house or ... (Read More)kennel trained but with better weather and a little time they can be. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-22-00168BayBay (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

This pocket-sized chick is an adorable brindle 2-3 year old Chihuahua. Along with her boyfriend BoBo, BayBay spent a week in a foster home so that her vetting could be completed and that we could learn more about her. Foster mom Kimber says, 'Both BayBay and Bobo are lovers if you like puppy kisses. Bobo is the energy, he is full of fun and wants to play with you, not so much toys. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-20-00183Benny (male)

Miniature Pinscher Mix    Age: Young Adult

We recently shared Benny's story on our page: this 2 year old Min Pin/Chihuahua mix had been left on the doorstep of another shelter and was found in the middle of the night by an officer on patrol. Benny is lucky that he didn't have to endure these weather conditions for another night. He spent a week in a foster home, where he could decompress, complete vetting, and start to show us his personality. Benny's foster mom, Rebecca, took several notes: Benny only barked when someone was at the door (good guard dog quality), he is not potty trained (only sniffed a lot when he needed to go), he does better with women and takes longer to warm up ... (Read More)to men, he loves belly rubs and attention and cuddles and play, he needs to be approached slowly and carefully, he will growl if startled or if another dog approaches his kennel, he is very obedient and loving and loyal to his human, he never showed aggression toward humans at all (including a 13 year old), he didn't chew anything in the house, he slept through the night, and he didn't want to play with the other dog in the home (who was bigger and who he warned off with growls when she overstepped her boundaries). Overall, Benny is a very playful and sweet pup in a home environment but a scared and shy little guy here at the Rescue. Who will come take him home? *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-17-00221Eliza (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Adult

At almost 7 years of age, Miss Eliza here has settled nicely into adulthood. She gets along well with other dogs; she knows several commands; she's spayed, utd on shots, and healthy. Eliza exhibited minimal separation anxiety in her previous household by scratching the door from which her family would leave, but she never chewed or destroyed anything in the house. According to her previous family, Eliza's perfect day would start with breakfast around 6:30-7:00, as long a walk as you want to take her on, a ride in the car, and another walk in the evening and dinner around 6:00pm. While on walks, her nose is to the ground and she loves to mark ... (Read More)her territory outside on weeds and tall grass. Her favorite toys are her Kong Squeaky tennis balls, and her braided rope for tug-o-war, and her squeaky Panda. Eliza's one issue is that she is scared and nervous around babies, so a mature household is desired for her. An ideal home for Eliza may be with a retired couple who can be with her a lot. She is a loyal and affectionate companion, and she is just waiting for you to take her home. Come meet Eliza, a Lab/Hound mix, at the Rescue during open hours. *Please contact us for her adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-16-00069Cooper (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Cooper is a 1-2 year old neutered male Rottweiler/Lab mix. Cooper is good with children of all ages, but needs a home with no other dogs or cats. Cooper is house and kennel trained. He knows many commands, such as Sit, Stay, Come, Fetch, Shake and Down. Cooper was surrendered because of behavioral issues (he was very protective of his family). Cooper will need a patient, dog-savvy family that will help him become well-adjusted to social life. *Please contact us for his adoption fee.

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-15-00210Poppy (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

For those of you who follow our page, you'll probably remember Ginger the Diva. She was, shall we say, behaviorally challenged, but all she needed was the right home and family to thrive and to live up to her full potential. Meet Poppy, Ginger's long-lost brother. Not really, of course, but they are so much like each other that we suspect Ginger sent Poppy to us just to keep us on our toes. Thanks, Ginger. After a couple of trainer evaluations and a veterinary assessment, we believe that Poppy is ready to be adopted by someone who likes and knows how to work with dogs who, well, have an attitude. We sent Poppy off to live with Dr. Karlee ... (Read More)Hondo-Rust for a while, and here are her notes: 'Poppy is an amazing dog! Please do not be fooled by his vocal behavior at the rescue. My family had the privilege of fostering Poppy and I must tell you he is a very different dog in a home environment. Poppy is house and kennel trained. We had zero accidents during his stay; When he needed to go, he ran to the door and let us know! He is also highly food motivated which has made training very easy. During his stay with my family, Poppy was pretty much a couch potato. His favorite activities were playing and cuddling with my toy rat terrier, Quarter. Reportedly, he had issues with visitors at his previous home (territorialism), but we did not experience this while he was in foster. Poppy is a typical small dog who thinks he's 180 pounds. He will do his best to be the alpha if his human family members are not up to the task of, 'commander and chief.' I believe that Poppy needs a home with experienced dog owners -- owners who have no issue with being the alpha of the pack. He will excel to his full potential in a home that is consistent with their schedule and expectations (rules). At my home there is a clear expectation of what is deemed appropriate behavior and Poppy had no issue with these expectations. I truly believe he is a dog that wants to win your approval (he doesn't want to be the alpha if he doesn't have to) and will do what it takes to get it. He would also do best in a home that consists of adults or adults and mature/older children.' An approximately 5 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix, Poppy is now waiting in our Rescue for the right person to come along and take him home. Is that you? *Please contact us for his adoption fee. Rescue Me ID: 17-01-14-00198Mary (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Adult

It's just not possible. Mary could not be any cuter. She's friendly with new people and readily affectionate; she's got the most beautiful black and white markings you've ever seen; and she looks at you with eyes that say, 'I love you already. Can we be friends?' A 5-6 year pretty pretty pittie, Miss Mary was transferred to us from the same shelter as Nos after she, too, waited for a very long time for a family. This darling girl is good with kids, good with other dogs, and a huge fan of toys. Come play with her, and you'll see. Mary just wants to share love and attention with her people, and if she's left alone and bored, she will hop on ... (Read More)over a 4 ft fence in search of a good time. So, supervision, exercise, and a tall fence are a must for Mary. But that's true for all dogs. Please consider welcoming Mary into your home; otherwise, we'll have to adopt her, too, and we're pretty sure there's a legal limit to how many dogs one may keep in their household. Don't make us break the law. ;) *Please contact us for Mary's adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-12-19-00178Rory (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Update on Rory, the 2 year old Rat Terrier who 'loves to be loved on.' Rory has been living in a foster home as he was too scared to stay in the building. We have been learning more about his temperament and behaviors over the past couple of weeks. His foster mom was able to win Rory's trust easily, but it took some time and treats for her husband to gain his friendship. They did become buddies, though, so we think that Rory will be fine with anyone who is willing to be patient with him. Rory will need a family that will use positive reinforcement to manage his behaviors. His foster mom says, 'He is different. We had an altercation with the ... (Read More)neighbors dog. The other dog did not retaliate. Rory is a super needy dog. Separation issues. No problems with my little dogs, just big ones. No problems with the cat. He does well in his crate in the garage and at night in the house. He chews up every thing when not being paid attention to. We love him and will keep working with him.' If you're interested in providing a calm and loving home for Rory, where he can feel safe and can build confidence, then please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. Rory is a 2 year old Rat Terrier who arrived from Utah on Saturday. We decided to help Rory when we learned that he was not doing well at his previous shelter because he's so fearful. Thanks to one of our wonderful volunteers, Rory was able to go into a foster home and decompress. He is shy and scared but we just know that there's a beautiful personality waiting to emerge. The first night, foster mom, Jennifer, reported, 'Rory is a totally different dog at home. He is actually pretty curious. Still skittish but he will come over to me at the couch and let me pet him. He was curious enough that I let my other dogs around him and he just wants to play.' By day two, Jennifer says, 'He's approaching today and even getting up on the couch to sit next to us. He did well in the night with the kennel. No accidents. He has been good about going out to go to the bathroom. He is good with the other dogs. Still a little skittish when you go towards him but I think that would fade pretty quickly also. He is a sweet boy.' If you're interested in meeting Rory, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. Meet-and-greets will be scheduled through his foster family. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-13-00229Gracie (female)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix    Age: Puppy

Meet Gracie, the cutest little Rhodesian Ridgeback you could ever meet. She's a 1 year old sweetheart, with lots of love and licks for her family. Gracie is full of energy for a game of catch out in the yard, but when she comes inside she knows how to settle right down, use her 'inside manners,' and chill out at your feet or in her crate. She is friendly with the neighbor dog through the fence, but hasn't been tested with other dogs. Gracie is interested in cats but we're unsure how she would do with one in the house. She loves all people, especially little kids, while still being a good watchdog when someone comes to the door. Gracie walks ... (Read More)well on a leash, not pulling or tugging. She is learning 'come', 'sit' and 'stay'. Due to a weak esophagus, Gracie does best when she can eat smaller meals during the day, with her front paws up on a bench or step-stool. Just look into her soft brown eyes and fall in love!' Gracie is in a foster home; please contact the rescue to arrange a meeting. (Less)
