Rescue Me ID: 17-06-19-00188Paco (male)

Pomeranian Mix    Age: Senior

Paco is another recent arrival from Phoenix, Arizona. We're told that this guy is about 10 years old, but he is definitely still young at heart. Paco is dog-friendly. But he's a little too friendly sometimes, if you know what we mean. Still, we think Paco would love to have other doggie friends who wouldn't mind his amorous ways. Paco is good with older kids (we're not sure about younger kids), and he's both house- and crate-trained. Here's more info from his previous rescue: Paco was surrendered to the county pound along with his buddy, Molly. I believe their owner died. The volunteers at the shelter told me he was part of a bonded pair ... (Read More)with Molly. However, after observing them myself and getting feedback from their foster mom, we believe they are NOT bonded. Personality: Happy, friendly, sweet boy--- a bit hyper and doesn't like to be held much. Training: For the most part, Paco seems to be housebroken. His foster mom kept him penned up most of the time, so it is hard to tell for certain if he is completely housebroken. He was around a child who was about 8 years old, and he was fine. Overall, Paco is very sweet, a bit nervous, but mostly a great dog. Health: Nothing to note Things to work on: He is a heavy marker (but he was in a household with many dogs.) (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-19-00169Sweetie (female)

Lhasa Apso Mix    Age: Young Adult

This 2-3 year old lady arrived from Phoenix, AZ after being transferred between a couple of rescues. We learned that she had previously needed to be handled with leather arm gloves and that rescuers worked with her for several months to overcome what they described as 'ptsd.' Here's what we've seen: a little pup whose name 'Sweetie' belies a scared but sometimes sassy personality. She will growl to warn off people she doesn't know or trust from approaching her kennel. With people she does trust, she will happily accept your food, retreat, come to the front of the kennel, retreat, then maybe hop on your lap for a walk -- but maybe not. Once ... (Read More)she's outside, she's much happier, wagging her tail and looking for attention. Still, we're looking for a savvy handler to adopt Sweetie and continue to work with her on her behaviors. We don't have a whole lot of information on this girl's temperament yet. We haven't tested her with other dogs very much, but she seems to be fine with dogs who are about her size. Because of her behaviors, we'd recommend a home with older children. She does try to keep her kennel clean here, and she does walk fairly well on a leash. Sweetie just needs a person who will earn her trust, provide structure and stability, and teach her how to behave around people. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-19-00112Olivia (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Young Adult

Oh, Olivia. This little one just wants to be your friend. She really does. But she's a little intimidated by everything around her, so she'll simply lay down, offer her belly, and hope for the best. Out in the play yard, Olivia relaxes a little and turns into a happy puppy. At about 3 years of age, she has plenty of energy to spare. She's curious, good with dogs, good with cats, and good at keeping her kennel clean here. We don't yet know how she feels about children. You're welcome to bring your kids in to meet her. On leash, Olivia isn't really sure what to do. She'll weave around your feet a little, stop, hunker down in the grass, jump ... (Read More)up, sprint forward, stop, and repeat. Her leash manners may need a little work, yes, but she'll learn soon enough. She's also perfectly willing to be carried around everywhere. Rescue Me ID: 17-06-19-00106Koda (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Meet Koda! A 2 year old neutered male who was recently transferred to us from another shelter in Idaho. He's stunning, isn't he? Koda is a lover, not a fighter. He is also a rather large lap dog. But we obviously don't mind. This boy gets along with other dogs, though he is reactive in this environment, and he wants nothing more than to be with his people all the time. Koda loves to play and go for walks. When he's bored, he gets into trouble. He was previously surrendered to the other shelter because he can climb over a seven foot fence and will dig in the yard when left unattended. His new family will need to keep him physically and ... Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Here's Lulu! Ready to run? Ready to play? Got a ball? OK. Let's go! Lulu has energy to spare, and she is ready to have a blast with you this summer. This 2-3 year old loves to play with toys. Her favorite past-time is fetch. So, um, seriously, would you like to play with her? Lulu is great with kids but not so great with any other animals. She is house-trained, and while she keeps her kennel clean here, she is not so fond of crates in a home setting. Lulu will try to pull anything nearby through the bars of the crate, so her new family will need to be aware of that potential challenge. She is friendly, outgoing, and excited to meet new ... Rescue Me ID: 17-06-08-00219Sable (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Are you smiling? Because if you aren't, Sable will turn that frown upside down in two seconds flat. He is the world's happiest dog. His bright energy is totally infectious, and we've been grinning from ear to ear ever since he arrived. Sable is about a year old and made a long trip, with a few stops, to MCR this past weekend. He was previously in a shelter in Kansas and became stressed out. This poor baby was quite a mess, and an amazing foster family stepped up to care for him. He will occasionally bark at people he doesn't know, but after, oh, half a second or so, he's ready to be best friends. And nobody can say no to having a BFF like ... (Read More)Sable. Cats, dogs, horses -- everyone falls in love with his dreamy personality. Sable behaved beautifully around all kinds of other animals at his Kansas foster home, and he has been absolutely polite and friendly to the critters he's met here. His foster mom, Lisa, shared a few notes: 'Sable is a dream companion! He is an energetic, affectionate, friendly dog, full of fun and ready to play. Sable is probably a little over a year old, and still has some puppy mannerisms to grow out of, primarily learning not to jump up on people. He does not dig, or try to jump out of a fence. He is super friendly to every dog he meets on a walk, does not bark at any dog going by, and is totally non-reactive to cats, squirrels, ducks. He walks calmly on a leash until he sees something interesting, and then he may lunge after it, but he gets over it quickly. He is a strong dog, and might be best in a house without small kids. Sable has lots of enthusiasm and loves to play ball! He would love a playmate, but will love just being with you as well. Can he come play with you?' One other note: Sable's bubbly personality got the better of him while he was at the shelter in Kansas. His 'happy tail' was a little too happy, and he needed to have part of his tail amputated. When you see his fierce little wiggles, you'll understand why his poor tail fell victim to his happiness. We're sorry he went through that, but we all agree his nub makes him more adorable -- if that's even possible. Call us at 208-794-0944 if you'd like to schedule a meet-and-greet. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-08-00216Tigger (male)

Catahoula Mix    Age: Young Adult

We've fallen hard for this guy, and we bet you will, too. Here's Tigger, a 3-4 year old recent transfer from Utah. And here's his story: Tigger was found near St George, stuck in a coyote trap -- the kind that gets tighter and tighter around the neck. He was emaciated and near death when another shelter was called out. Shelter workers had to cut the trap out of his neck, and they set about nursing him back to health. He has some scars, but he was neutered and healed when he was adopted out to a woman with children. He did very well with her kids, and the woman loved him. Unfortunately, after her life circumstances changed, she surrendered ... (Read More)him back to the shelter. Tigger's former guardian said that he would 'eat the walls' if left alone, so he may need some help with separation anxiety. We have not noticed a problem here, though. His guardian also said that he was good with little dogs but not big; however, the reports are confusing. The shelter took him to an adoption event, where he did great with other dogs, but apparently a shelter volunteer was out walking him one day when he 'viciously attacked a weiner dog.' We're told that the dog had a cow bell on and that the noise may have bothered him. Apparently, Tigger also jumped a 6 foot fence one day while a shelter worker was bathing Clark (large male), and the two dogs did not fight at all. We suspect that Tigger is selective and will need help with slow introductions. But here's what we know for sure: Tigger is a sweetheart. He is calm. He is mellow. He is friendly with everyone he meets, though he does seem a little shy and reserved at first. Tigger's ears are very yeasty, but he tolerates cleaning and treatment like a champ. He rides in a car well. He walks on a leash well. He is simply one of the most well-behaved dogs around this place. And we love him. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-08-00211Clark (male)

Border Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

When you meet Clark, you need to do two things: (1) sit down, and (2) rub his belly. Then you're golden. Clark is a professional belly rub recipient. Few things in this world could make him any happier -- in fact, we haven't found anything yet. Clark is the sweetest, most endearing fella you've ever met, provided that you meet him outside of his kennel. In the kennel environment, Clark is a wild child. He just wants attention, so he is constantly barking and jumping and pacing. This 3-4 year old was recently transferred from a shelter in southern Utah, where he had waited for over 6 months (!) for a family. He became increasingly ... (Read More)kennel-stressed there, and we're hoping that the change in scenery will give him the home he's always wanted. Here's what we were told: 'He came from a home for barking because he lived his whole 4 years outside with no attention at all. The owner said he was good with kids, dogs, and cats. He was OK with dogs at first, and he had a female best friend who got adopted, but in the end he got where he was not good with dogs anymore. Once out of the kennel, he is a good boy and great on a leash. He is just craving affection and lonely. '| Clark can come off so obnoxious in his kennel because he is dying to be loved. The second you put a leash on him, he is a whole new dog. His fur was terrible from living outside his whole life, and I was trying to bathe him a lot and feed him coconut oil to get him soft. His paws were getting sore from being at the shelter for so long. He LOVES to go on long walks to the river or just anywhere, but we don't have the volunteers to take him every day or even every week sometimes. He is selective about his canine friends, but he'd be fantastic in the right home with older kids or no kids and maybe hikers or active young people.' Feel free to come meet Clark at the Rescue during our adoption hours. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-31-00085Kilo (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Gorgeous Kilo was transferred to MCR from a shelter in Utah. He had previously been adopted and returned due to health problems. (His health has since been excellent.) The previous adopter reports that Kilo was reactive to other dogs while on leash and that he would jump and nip at children's hands if they were holding anything. Here at MCR, we have noted that Kilo is reactive in the kennel environment. He has met another dog and behaved fairly well, though he is tense when the other dog wants to sniff him. For now, we're recommending a home without other animals or small children -- just to be safe. Kilo is a lover once he's out of the ... (Read More)kennel. He barks for attention (or treats! those are good, too), and he wants nothing more than to soak up the love and pets while you're outside. Kilo is approximately 3 years old, happy and energetic and ready to please. We'd love to introduce you to this handsome fella. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-25-00217Duffy (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Welcome to Idaho, Duffy! We're so happy to meet you. Duffy is an approximately 9 month old male puppy, who also happens to be fully deaf. He was transferred to us from Utah, where he had previously lived with a foster/trainer who works with a shelter there. Duffy is fully vetted and ready for his forever home. Read on for more information from his former foster dad: 'Here's just some key observations I made during my time with Duffy that will hopefully allow for a smooth transition into a rescue center/forever home. Duffy is fully housebroken...if he's let out to relieve himself. He likes to be watched when he does his business so he knows ... (Read More)he's safe. We have been working on crate training as well, and he loves the comfort of his crate at night (I leave it open but he still chooses to sleep in it where he has his own space). I leave him free to roam the house during the day and he has not had any accidents in recent weeks. His powerful nose has led him into the garbage on more than one occasion, but a stern hand signal has showed him right from wrong. We have been hiking and going to the dog park almost every day, he is great off-leash and would rather find himself next to you than minding the other dogs. Duffy highly enjoys the company of other dogs, and I would recommend going into a home that has dogs -- he is very anxious when left alone and tends to become destructive. I have found that Duffy absolutely loves children and kids. Also, please be CAUTIOUS: Duffy loves to chase moving cars and will not hesitate to run into the road. I've found it quite difficult to take him on leash walks through the neighborhood. In the right environment -- dog park, hiking trail, open field -- he is completely fine on/off leash. We have been training hand signals and Duffy is responding well to the positive reinforcement. A simple thumbs up is *good boy* and a strong pointing index finger is *no - bad dog* A finger pointing to your nose is a command I like to call *Look at me* When I was training my first deaf dog, this was fundamental in ensuring her safety and allowing her to be off leash. When this is trained, the dog will respond by stopping everything they're doing and making eye contact with you to receive further instruction. After consistent training, it will become habit for the dog to always check in and make eye contact. P.S. Duffy loves to snuggle.' Duffy was previously surrendered to that shelter several times for not doing well with any small animals or with young children. He likes to herd and would do better in a home with older kids and with dogs his own size. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-23-00163Dexter (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

'Can I tell you a secret? I love you already!!!' Dexter has got to be one of the happiest dogs we've ever had. His little happy feet tap dance the second we walk into his room. He can barely contain his excitement when we approach his kennel, and his beautiful baby eyes look at us as if to say, 'Come here. Can I tell you a secret? I love you already!' Well, Dexter, we love you, too. When Dexter enters the play yard, it's time for zoomies. And zoomies. And more zoomies. He will pause long enough for some back scratches and a full body hug or two, then he's back at play bowing, tap dancing, and zooming his handsome little body all around the ... (Read More)place. You can't see him in action and *not* smile. Actually, you can't even meet him without smiling. We dare you to try. Those happy feet get us every time. At about 3 years of age, Dexter is still a young one who has overcome some of his puppy habits but not others. He will jump up for attention and he certainly has energy to spare. But his sheer exuberance is a personality trait, and we don't see that fading away anytime soon. Dexter arrived from California and is fully vetted and ready for a home now. We have yet to test him with other dogs but we're told that he is not good with cats. Because of his size and energy level, we suspect that he would do better in a home with older kids, so you're welcome to bring the whole family in to meet him. (Less)

When we saw pictures and videos of him, we couldn't help but say yes. Dean arrived at MCR last Saturday. We've gotten to know him during his week-long hold, and we can tell you one thing for sure: Dean is a charming fellow. He is a gentleman, through and through, acting polite and friendly once he gets to know you. He's easy to handle and to walk on a leash, and he hasn't shown any fear since he arrived. Rescue Me ID: 17-05-23-00146Prince (male)

This Prince of thieves has stolen our hearts. Here's why: He will frolic and pounce after a toy '| for about 3 seconds. Then he'll go after another toy, bounding like a happy little puppy '| for about 3 more seconds. His attention span may be lacking, but he makes up for it in sheer dorky enthusiasm. He has the most horrendously cropped ears. No dog should have to go through that and we feel terribly that his were done this way. Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00298Azula (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Adult

Meet Azula. This beautiful lady has lived a lot of life in her 5-6 short years. We decided to take her in when we found out her story. Here it is: 'Azula has been in and out of our shelter many times in the past years. Sadly her owner was not very responsible and she lived in a drug house and her owner was shot and killed in a drug deal about a month ago. We're guessing Azula has been through a lot. Azula has been with another dog at our shelter and did ok but did show some resource guarding, we think with her strength and past, she might do best being an only dog but that could possible change with the right dog. She is a beautiful, strong ... (Read More)girl, seems to like the company of people and the staff at the shelter she is coming from would always bring her into the office to visit with everyone. She gets really into playing with her toys and LOVES to chew on bones. She enjoys walks but needs a strong hand. Azula is house trained, we believe her to be approximately 5 years old.' When she arrived, we figured a serious play session was in order. Azula immediately went through every single toy in our play area, romping and rolling around, and happily chewing the squeakers out of the biggest toys in the bin. A few stuffed toys may or may not have been destroyed, but who cares? We'd say she deserves to be carefree and playful for a while. Don't you agree? (Less)

Our newest stud muffin, Duke, arrived from Kansas. This guy is energetic, strong, and super friendly to people. He has the softest coat you've ever felt and he's ready for a full body hug when you are. Duke is about 1 year old. Here's what we know: 'Duke came in as a stray but his owner did not reclaim him (they only owned for a month), he has jumped up on his daughter and scratched her arm so they didn't want him back. Duke is a pretty easy going boy, his favorite things to do are to play with toys, roll around in the grass and sit around. Although he enjoys being pet, he's not a needy dog and seems to do fine just hanging out. Duke has ... We don't believe he is dog friendly but have never really tried him with other dogs. I believe he is house trained but am not positive. Duke is a beautiful, healthy, strong dog, he enjoys walks but should have a gentle lead or some way to keep him from pulling as he is strong. He'd do best in a home with a fenced yard to keep him and other dogs safe.' Stop by the Rescue if you're interested in meeting Duke. We'd love to introduce you! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-17-00248Blazer (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Meet Blazer, a 1-2 year old neutered male who was recently surrendered to our Rescue. His previous guardian loves Blazer very much and wants only the best for this handsome guy. Here's what he has to say: 'A little about Blaze. He was found as a stray in Canyon County. When I got him, he was very underweight, his coat was dry and blotchy. He would not go near people or other dogs. When I brought him outside he sat on the concrete pad and just looked sad. I am a supporter of the shelters and adopted several dogs over the years, my last one was from you guys (Geronimo was his name, he is now Brody and doing very well). Blaze was the saddest ... (Read More)dog I have seen there, and I thought I would be able to provide him a good home. So far I have been able to. His coat looks amazing and he is a social butterfly with both people and dogs. He got off to a rough start, stayed very reserved and Brody just left him alone. The first night he slept hard for a straight 12 hours on my bed. As we have progressed to the dog park, he went from hiding under my legs to running and playing (on leash) with the other dogs and people. He loves to smile and play. He is a food monger! He inhales his food, so I purchased a slower bowl and that seems to be helping (that will be sent with him). However, he does not have any food aggression. I have tested him several times during feeding time with myself and Brody. He does not get tense, guard or any sort of behavior that would signify he has any aggressive behaviors with food. He is learning, getting better everyday, with taking treats nicely from my hand. He is learning the word 'gentle' and what that means. He does well with small dogs and large dogs. I have not had him directly in contact with kids, however, the kids at the dog park have not had any issues with him. He is getting much better on the leash. He needs a few gentle reminders about how to behave on a leash and then he is good and will walk by my side without pulling. In the house he is very docile. He likes to sit with me on the couch an watch tv. He also likes to just be petted, especially on his head/ears. He and Brody are great about going outside to rough house and play. He loves balls and toys! He is not great at bringing them back, but slowly getting better. He does not know his name yet, but is learning. He is good at coming when not distracted, but when he is distracted or playing he has not got that figured out yet. He is a very sweet and lovable dog. Regarding the reason I need to try to find a more appropriate home for him. He is a Houdini. Once he perked up, I found that he could jump my 4 ft chain link fence and get out. I purchased and installed 5 foot extension fencing, thinking that would solve the problem. He has figured out how to get out still. He has been able to tear down some of the fence when he is chasing squirrels. I purchased and crate trained him. He does very well in the crate, he will go right in on command and lay down. However, during the day he has figured out how to wedge his way out of it and get out. I have dog doors in my house and he gets out then escapes the back yard. With having Brody, I am unable to block the dog doors so he cannot get in/out. That is not fair to Brody. I have attempted to strap the door to the crate so he cannot force his way out, but he has managed to undo that and get out. I have an outside kennel/dog run that Brody uses during the day. It has a covered roof top and is chain link. I kicked Brody out during the day and locked Blaze in there hoping that would keep him secure. He has managed to find his way out of it as well. I have only had Blazer for just under a month and he has been taken to the human society 3 times, and gotten out everyday in the past 2 weeks, despite my remedies. I am very concerned because he loves water! My house butts up to one of the main arteries for the new york canal. Its about 10 feet deep and flowing fast (they just turned it on over the weekend). I have caught Blaze trying to go there and it would devastate me if he got in. If you feel you can offer Blazer a secure home, please come in and meet him. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-10-00278Roko (male)

Redbone Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

Sometimes, it takes a little extra time and effort to find the right home for our dogs. This is Roko, and he was adopted by the most amazing family. They've worked with him for a while now, but we've all come to the realization that Roko is better suited to a home without small children. And that's OK. We're sure his people are out there somewhere. Roko's family is fostering him for the time being. Here's what Nichole has to say: 'Meet Roko, a 1.5-year-old male Redbone Coonhound available for adoption through Meridian Canine Rescue. We are fostering him until he finds his forever family. Although we had hoped to adopt him ourselves, we have ... (Read More)determined that it would be best for him to be in a home without children under the age of 12. I have gotten to know Roko over the past month and he is a beautiful, sweet boy. My husband and I have taken him to work with us every day and he is content laying in his crate, watching people pass by his office window, rarely ever barking at them. In order to be content in his crate, he does require consistent exercise every day. I've been riding a Razor scooter to keep up with him on our morning walks! We typically finish the day with another walk that focuses on obedience training. He's starting to get the hang of it! This guy loves food and will literally jump through hoops to get it. Food puzzles, toys that make a strategy game out of eating treats, keep him busy in the afternoons. His incredible, well-bred nose can sniff out anything! True to being a hound dog, he does bay when he is anxious or if he sees a small animal he'd like to chase up a tree, but he is typically pretty quiet indoors. A structured environment that includes crate time in conjunction with recreational activities would suit him best. I'd imagine he'd get bored and start to howl if he was in a backyard all day. He's approximately 60 pounds of lean muscle and incredibly powerful. Our two boys, ages 5 and 7, absolutely love to be with him, but now that Roko has playfully knocked them over a few times, he's figured out that he is stronger than they are and has recently started to test his dominance over them around the house. Because of this, I believe that it would be best if he was in a family where he is physically, the smallest member of the household. I think he can overcome this once he gets adjusted to his new environment, with proper training. His adoption fee is $300. He's already neutered, microchipped and vaccinated! Please share this with any of your friends who may be interested in this specialized breed of dog. He deserves to be in a home that has an appreciation for his natural hunting instincts. Redbone Coonhounds are rare in Idaho; if fact, Roko actually came from Texas! Once he is adopted, I'd like to offer his new family a session with professional dog trainer, Teri, from Pooch Pros. She knows a lot about Roko and his temperament, and is looking forward to helping him transition to his new family. If you are interested in adopting him, call Meridian Canine Rescue: (208) 794-0944.' (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-10-00224Tigger (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Tigger joined us on our last Wings of Rescue transport. He was flown in, along with his buddies Roo and Ivan, after we learned that they needed a rescue spot. All three dogs (plus several more) had been living in a home together, so we know that Tigger is great with other dogs. Like his best friend Roo, Tigger is somewhat timid. When meeting new people, he can take a minute to warm up. However, he's quick to gain confidence and show you affection once he learns that you're a friend. Tigger makes an excellent lap dog and hops up into your arms whenever he can. Because he's a newer arrival, we haven't had the opportunity yet to conduct ... (Read More)supervised meet-and-greets. We suspect that Tigger is good with older kids, but we're not sure how he feels about younger kids, cats, crates, etc. As we continue to get to know this 1-2 year old, we'll update his profile. In the meantime, come cuddle this guy yourself. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-04-00153Bear (male)

Rottweiler Mix    Age: Young Adult

He was terrified when he came in. Barking at the kennel door. Freezing and staring at us with wide eyes. Tensing his entire body. It was awful. But then... oh, but then... we met Bear. The real Bear. The one who lives to love you. The one who gives you kisses and hugs and wants to play and be by your side for ever and ever. Once he realized he could trust us, Bear gave us his heart, and we are so happy to know him. He is just 2 years old. He is reactive because he's scared of new situations. But once he's got his person by his side, Bear can learn to be brave. When he went in to the vet to be neutered, we admit that we were all a little ... (Read More)worried. But he stayed calm, he accepted treats, and he curiously sniffed people with relaxed body language throughout the ordeal. We were so proud of this guy. We've been told that Bear is good with other dogs and non-reactive toward cats. He doesn't seem to mind the dogs here, and he was happily curious about the ones he met during his vet outing. We think that with the right dog, Bear could love having a canine companion. But he's really all about his people. Once he's yours, he's all yours. It'll take some time for adopters to see him as we've come to know him, so if you've got a little extra time and patience, we encourage you to visit with him. The moment you've earned his trust -- well, you just can't beat it. What an amazing feeling. ***NOTE: Bear was previously adopted, then returned to us. He is a fearful dog who will need someone to help him work on his reactions to new people. Please ask a staff member for more information. We have additional notes about his behaviors, as well as an evaluation completed by a certified trainer. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-13-00099Cash (male)

Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix    Age: Puppy

This good-looking guy was recently surrendered by his family after they could no longer provide the type of lifestyle and home environment that he needs. Cash's family provided photographs and notes about him, so we will use that information to start his bio and will continue to update it as we get to know him. Cash is about 1.5 years old and is all Hound. He has a lot to say, and he is very curious and energetic. Cash has really enjoyed playing with friends at doggie day care, but in the home environment, Cash has displayed resource guarding tendencies (over food) with his canine sister. Cash will need a dog savvy adopter who is willing to ... (Read More)continue his training (he's very smart and has already graduated from several classes), to tolerate his louder than life personality, to provide lots of exercise, and to manage his food issues. In return, Cash will give you lots of love, will keep your life exciting at all times, and will be forever grateful to you for rescuing him. *Please contact us for his adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-06-00143Nala (female)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Adult

Miss Nala arrived recently from Arizona and has been hanging out in a foster home where it's calm and quiet. She is a timid, shy little girl, who would like nothing more than a peaceful home of her very own. Nala is 6-7 years old, spayed, utd on shots, and microchipped. She does very well with dogs and cats -- in fact, she is currently staying in a foster home with one of our recently adopted dogs, Fitz. Nala is both house and kennel trained as well. Because of her temperament, we're looking for a mature household without any kids, as Nala would prefer to be around adults who would respect her boundaries and move a little more slowly. It was ... (Read More)reported that Nala bit a child, but the records are confusing. She has shown no signs of aggression here. Nala was previously sheltered at a facility in Arizona, and during her stay, she became pregnant. Nala had one fetus about 28 days old when the county shelter spayed her. We know that Nala has been through a lot of upheaval and that explains why she doesn't like to be picked up from the front and why she's reluctant to move out of her safe kennel space when she meets new people. Once Nala decompresses in a home, she is an absolute love and wants to hang out on the couch. If you're interested in meeting Nala, please call the Rescue at 208-794-0944. *Please contact us for her adoption fee. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-10-13-00229Gracie (female)

Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix    Age: Puppy

Meet Gracie, the cutest little Rhodesian Ridgeback you could ever meet. She's a 1 year old sweetheart, with lots of love and licks for her family. Gracie is full of energy for a game of catch out in the yard, but when she comes inside she knows how to settle right down, use her 'inside manners,' and chill out at your feet or in her crate. She is friendly with the neighbor dog through the fence, but hasn't been tested with other dogs. Gracie is interested in cats but we're unsure how she would do with one in the house. She loves all people, especially little kids, while still being a good watchdog when someone comes to the door. Gracie walks ... (Read More)well on a leash, not pulling or tugging. She is learning 'come', 'sit' and 'stay'. Due to a weak esophagus, Gracie does best when she can eat smaller meals during the day, with her front paws up on a bench or step-stool. Just look into her soft brown eyes and fall in love!' Gracie is in a foster home; please contact the rescue to arrange a meeting. (Less)
